Black 5 Project Update:

This project is suspended for the forseeable future.
To all the visitors to this site, and to the many people who have e-mailed me enquiring about the status of the Black 5 game, due to other pressures i have been unable to give the project the commitment it deserves, and if i have not replied to you please accept my sincere apologies.

Please also note, that the download (from this site at any rate) is disabled, due to pressure from my ISP over bandwidth and the financial costs of running the site.

Many thanks to the rail sim community for your support during the development of this project.

Should you need to get in touch with me, you can contact me through :-

thanks again,

Version 0.8a of the demo available! ....

The 0.8a version of the demo is now available from the download page.
Please note, the demo route (a loop this time) is virtually unpopulated with objects due to time constraints. Please take the time to have a look at the tutorial for notes on how to edit and create your own routes.

I am moving house over the next few weeks, so updates (if any) will be few and far between until the boxes are unpacked....
However, i will do my best to answer any mail and/or posts on the Crotrainz/Trainsim UK forum.

Cheers!

Mark Judd

19.6.01 Tutorial and updated model added to download section ....

To try and help the first time route creater we have cobbled together a (very) brief tutorial file.
To download this document, or to check out a revised truck model for the demo please take a look at the download page.
We hope to make more objects available as they are completed (both rolling stock and trackside scenery.)

17:06:01 Demo released! ....

After much gnashing of teeth and other such things the demo is ready for download.
Take a look at the download page for details, and let us know what you think!
We are all off for a lie-down and a back massage, so be gentle with your initial comments.....

11:06:01 A few more screenshots ....

Just a brief update this time, to let you know that the 'pre-demo' version of Black 5 has been sent to several reviewers and playtesters for evaluation, and that the completed demo version should be available for download, from this site within a week.

Meantime, heres a few more screenshots to make the time pass a little quicker .......

31.5.01 General state of affairs ....

Since the last update was in April, it seemed like a good idea to post some news!

In general things are progressing at a steady pace, a playable demo is just around the corner, and things are falling into place nicely for the final package.

Menu screens are complete (see image to the right) and work is concentrating at the moment on implementing the in game options such as view distance and so on.

Strange how removing the pressure of a finite day and time for release has eased the pressure of development, we seem to have achieved more in the last month than we have in a long while.

New shots and some game info ....

To (hopefully) keep interest ticking over, we've released a couple more images from the game itself and detailed a little more about how the actual control system works.

Take a look at the images section for all the new shots (you'll notice some of the older ones have been 'filed') and for a brief description of the cab controls.

If you'd like to comment on anything that you see here (good or bad) please e-mail us and let us know. All your feedback is gratefully received.

Demo feedback ....

Within the next week or so a fully playable demo will be available to download from the website.

With the demo will be a response form (currently being drafted in .PDF format) which its hoped will provide us with valuable feedback on the games performance.

Of obvious interest to us are areas such as framerate, ease of use, realism and so on.

With enough of these forms returned, its hoped that any bugs and mistakes can be ironed out before the release of the final version.

So, get that hard-drive defragged and look out for the demo!
